SUBSTATION ENGINEERING: This project located in West Texas consisted of converting an existing three ring bus 138-kV “tapped” (or switch-connected substation) to a three-breaker ring bus equipped with relaying, controls and real time monitoring. SE is providing turnkey services for: 1) engineering and design of the complete 138-kV ring bus substation and transmission line cut-in including all required permits; 2) procuring all material and equipment; and 3) construction including site grading and development. SE’s Scope of services included: Turn-Key Engineering and Design including Civil/Structural, Electrical, Relaying and Control, Telecommunications, and Transmission Line Design; Material Procurement; Construction Oversight and Inspection; and “As-Built” Drawings. TRANSMISSION ENGINEERING: This project consisted of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of 138 kV transmission line taps to enable conversion of the existing air-break switch connected substation to a three-breaker ring bus equipped with relaying, controls and real time monitoring. SE is provided EPC turnkey services for: 1) engineering and design of the 138-kV transmission line cut-in including all required permits; 2) procuring all material and equipment including self-supported steel poles; and 3) construction. (2018-2019)
SE provided project management and oversight services for the duration of the transmission line assessment project located in South Texas. The project consisted of two phases. PHASE I: Included providing a high-level inventory of 20 substations and 130 miles of transmission line to inform and enable the purchase of transmission assets. PHASE II: Included providing the Client with a detailed inventory, assessment, and drawings of transmission line assets to enable Operations and maintenance of the system, as well as upgrade, investment, and recapitalization of the assets to meet the Client's standards. SE’s scope of work included: Data collection and engineering coordination: Easement assessment and verification, Pole-to-pole inventory and inspection of ~20 miles (~15%) of transmission lines, Confirmation of conductor and overhead shield wire size, configuration, structure type, style, and material, Collection of nameplate/birthmark information from poles including crossarm, x-brace, and knee brace information, Notation of damper locations and quantities, Inspection of foundations and note pier, and Implementation of revised processes to complete remaining ~85% transmission lines; Attendance of review meetings; Oversight to the completion of project engineering drawings and specifications; Facilitation of monthly project status meetings; and Provided monthly reports that outlined recent accomplishments, coming activities, anticipated risks/issues, and updated schedule and milestones. (2018-2020) Since 2018, Schneider Engineering has performed the following services for this Central Texas Client: 13kV, 35kV, 138kV, and 345kV substation design services, and 138kV and 345kV transmission line design services including, but not limited to: Obtaining project permits structure analysis and specification Routing studies; PLS-CADD design of new build, re-build, and relocations; Substation design using Bentley MicroStation; Rigid bus design; Lightning protection design; Grounding studies using CDEGS grounding software package by Safe Engineering Services & technologies ltd. (SES); Conductor specification & analysis; Transmission Line optimization design/analysis; Construction specifications & support; Material specifications; Developing substation site plans and section views; Developing transmission line plan and profiles; Performing feasibility studies; Providing budgeting & construction estimates; and Providing project management services.
