Schneider Engineering (SE) provided turnkey engineering services as a member of the EPC team for this large wind generation project. The wind generation project included fifty five (55) Vesta V100 (1.815 MW) wind turbine generators in West Texas. The project provided interconnection to the power grid via a 6.0 mile long radial line. SE provided engineering and construction support for substation civil, electrical & structural, protection & control relaying, and the transmission line between the substation and switchyard, as well as inspection services for the duration of the project. The substation includes a 138 kV Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB), 140 MVA Power Transformer (PWT), two feeder (collection) 34.5 kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB), one 34.5 kV VCB for protection of the reactive compensation bank, two 8.1 MVAR capacitor banks and one 10 MVAR DSTATCOM to meet power factor requirements, and control house. SE provided coordination and review of engineering studies conducted to determine load flow, short circuit, reactive compensation (power factor), harmonics, Arc Flash, transient over-voltage, insulation coordination, cable ratings, and energy loss. (2012)
SE served as Owner's Engineer for this project consisting of six GE Jenbacher 8.75 MW reciprocating engine generator sets. SE provided advice and consultation to this Client, reviewed design and engineering of major equipment suppliers and engineering/construction contractor, and performed construction inspection and commissioning coordination, and provided turn‐key EPC services for the GSU step‐up substation for this plant. The substation included all structural steel, aluminum bus work, and 145kV disconnect switches necessary to connect two power transformers to a 138kV substation. SE programmed and updated ladder logic for the proprietary GE generator control system, for automation functions including automatic start/stop of the generators based on market conditions. SE has programmed various additional automation functions into the generator controls, and continues to provide support to the generation plant for updates to the ladder logic as needed. For the EPC services associated with the GSU substation, SE served as the primary contractor and subcontracted the construction. (2013-2016)
Schneider Engineering (SE) provided turnkey engineering services as the prime member of the EPC teams for this large substation. It was designed and built to support both a new gas plant and existing gas plant in West Texas. The substation included two 138kV-4160V, 24MVA power transformers built to feed a new cryogenic gas plant and one 138-22kV, 15kV transformer necessary to support an existing gas plant. The substation includes 4-138kV gas circuit switchers, 138kV, 24MVA power transformer, 3-25kV vacuum circuit breakers, a 5kV switchgear line-up with 11 vacuum breakers, arc-flash protected, and 3-capacitor banks for power factor correction. SE provided all civil, electrical and structural, protection, and control engineering, specifications for equipment procurement, and construction support. SE also coordinated with the transmission service provider for the design and construction of the transmission interconnect. (2012-2013)
