Schneider Engineering, LLC is seeking Field Designer, Power Line (Electrical Distribution) in Boerne, TX.
The ideal candidates will possess electrical distribution (medium voltage 5kV to 35 kV) design skills and experience or survey skills and experience. However, no experience required. We will train the right candidates!
Responsibilities:
- Process applications for line extensions, new services, and relocations (overhead and underground)
- Meet with customers to discuss application process, anticipate electrical load, and line routing
- Preparation of construction work orders, utility contracts, easement exhibits, permits and cost estimates
- Stake out proposed facilities for construction
- Create service requests for tree trimming, metering, lighting, and service upgrades
- Design voltage conversion projects
- Site visits to inventory existing lines
- Preparation of construction work orders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code
- Knowledge of GIS Mapping Systems
- Knowledge of utility accounting and purchasing practices, rates, and tariffs
- Knowledge of RUS construction specifications and standards
- Knowledge of 811 locates process
- Ability to use total station survey equipment
- Ability to use GPS RTK survey equipment
- Capability of documenting detailed survey data in field books
- Time Management skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage changing priorities
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software to include Excel, Outlook, and Word
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Ability to travel working 95% in the field, 5% in the office. Field work will involve traversing difficult and uneven terrain on foot
- Ability to spend 3-5 nights per week in a hotel room.
- Ability to use computer systems, entering data and processing information
- Ability to organize and set priorities, handle multiple tasks in a fast paced and changing environment and meet deadlines
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and extended work schedules such as 8 days on duty, 6 days off duty
